The following points are important for providing an accurate description, determining current value and replacement cost.
Weight: In grams (gr.) or pennyweight (dwt.). This is the single most important factor for establishing value.
Length and width (if chain or bracelet): Standard bracelet lengths: 7" ladies, 8m mens. Standard necklace lengths: 16", 18", 20", 24", 30". Widths should be reflected in millimeters (mm.) or in fractions of an inch (ie. 1/8m)
Type of Clasp: Lobster, Barrel, Spring Ring.
Karat of Gold: 10K, 14K, 18K or gold filled.
Mens or Ladies
Physical Description: Chain and bracelets-Link, Herringbone, Rope, etc. Rings - Dome, Filigree, Free-form, etc.
Receipts: May include weight or description.
Photographs/Video: The best positive ID.
